My Ratnamson Pens

Huh.... Finally, I have my two new Ratnam fountain pens (Size 302) in myhands...!

This is a pen company founded in 1932 and its first fountain pen was gifted to Mahatma Gandhi... As I am a strict fountain pen user/maniac, I decided to get hold of a few of these pens and add them to my collection ofother ebonite fountain pens (Advocate and Prasad Pens).

I don't believe in using any foreign made fancy fountain pens (Parker, Waterman, Sheaffer etc...... There has to be an interesting history behind them....These Ratnam pens write sooooo smoothly.... ! I am absolutely in love with them....As they say, "Once you hold a Ratnam pen, you will never hold anything else....!". For all of you fellow fountain pen fans/freaks, here is the address of Ratnam Pen Works... You can call Mr. K.V.Ramanamurthy on the number specified and order the pens you like....

Which is this road in Bangalore....??

Those who live in this area will surely know the road I am talking about. This is the Doddanekkundi Main Road near Marathalli.

As a resident of thearea I am used to seeing the good old, battered Doddanekkundi Main Roadeveryday. In fact I don't even think it qualifies to be called a road atall...because... There is no road.!

I am one of those hundreds of people whouse this road (?) everyday to travel to work... The 7 minute bumpy ride tomy office is still a lot better than the 30 minutes of traffic jam I have to go through if try and avoid going through this road.I am very emotionally attached to this road.... I have seen it serving its purpose through the summer, monsoon, winter, spring..... and the cycle goeson and on... It is a visual treat to watch people trying to wade through thelarge pools of water that accumulate on this road during the monsoon...
The danger part aside, I think people using this road have grown so used to itthat they have now actually started enjoying the experience...!! Nobody iscomplaining....So, I was taken aback when one day I noticed that somebody has actually madeit qualified enough to be called a road by asphalting it...!! That's it...all those joy rides, water pool adventures etc are gone...!!

I decided to go through this transformed Dodanekkundi road on my BajajPulsar 150 DTSi bike.... As I started going through it and traveled about afew hundred meters on it... I reached the other end of this newly done roadand was in for a pleasant surprise.....!!

All is not lost as yet......

This is how it looks half way through! Brilliant.... Simply brilliant....!!

On the face value of it, it just looks that the entire road has been doneup. But nothing has changed... Talk about politicians playing tricks on thejanatha to get their votes..! I don't know if this has anything to do with theupcoming elections in Karnataka but I have a feeling it has...

Doddanekkundi key vaasiyon ! Iss raat ki subah naheen......

Mera Bhaarat Mahaan ....!

The other day, i woke up earlier than usual and decided to go to my office rather early.... by about 7 :00 AM since i was feeling bored at home. It was a national holiday so the newly opened canteen upstairs of my office building was closed.....

Me and my close friend/colleague Rohit Jayakaran were chatting as usual and decided to go down to Marathalli to have breakfast since the guy upstairs was closed....

Just as we finished breakfast, i noticed a fully overloaded two wheeler parked on the road... Upon close observation, I found out that its our good old TVS 50 (XL) ! Apparrently, the owner of this vehicle is a tech engineer who goes door to door to install the Tata Sky equipment....

I was surprised to see how this guy managed to stock everything he required, the dish antenna, lots of cables etc. down the very essentials like screwdriver, pliers etc all on his trustworthy TVS (XL)....!!

I looked at the vehicle and said to my self "With literally no place to sit, who rides the bike....? May be, this guy needs a car...! "

I love the attitude.... Space no bar, Vehicle no bar, kifaayati service.... baar baar ....!

Well, i wonder how this guy manages to ride this vehicle in the World Notorious "Bangalore Traffic"...? If this is okay, then i think triple riding shouldn't be an offence...!!

Eternal Love

This is a rather unusual board i came across during my stay in one of the cottages in Tirupati. I have grown up seeing girls/women filling up application forms saying 'xyz' D/o or W/o etc.... But our man, so sweetly likes to be addressed as H/o Srimathi M.Padmini......!!

Now, that's something new to me... :-))

Need a Hair Cut Anyone...???

I have always been amused with the way shops have very "creatively mis - spelt boards". The last one i can remember is of some stall in a local exhibition in my home town, Vizag (way back in the 90s). The board said "Komal Kasmaatiks".... ( Trust me, I am not joking!). As a school going kid, it took me a while to understand what this guy's shop offered.
Now, after about 12 years..... I could relive the moment when i saw this board while walking down one of the busy and traffic clogged roads in Bangalore. This guy's is too amusing!!
